On my way back down from Chicago Basin, in the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan National Forest, I constantly found the most beautiful scenery that I couldn't resist recording! This is the trail that parallels Needle Creek on the way back to the Needleton train stop alongside the Animas River.

Here's my personal web page about climbing 14ers:

Yes, the crowds are really bad there during July and August. And, yes, it's common for folks to set up a base camp to climb the 13ers and 14ers surrounding the basin.

  • Seeing how July and August are prime time in Chicago Basin, how were the crowds?

I've heard that many set up a basecamp from which to climb the 14ers in the area.

  • This video was recorded on July 16, 2009. Hope that helps!

  • It would be nice if you would indicate the date filmed. Not being from the area, I'm trying to figure out if this is May or August.
