Swine flu in Hong Kong. Don't panic!

The South China Morning Post speaks to International SOS's regional medical advisor for North Asia about the risks posed by swine flu to the Hong Kong population.

Robert Allen, MD, MACP, claims that although the virus is very different to Sars and avian flu, the fundamental precautions that the population can take are similar. Basic hand hygiene is still vital, for example.

The spread of H1N1, like the common flu, is inevitable. All we need to do is to keep our city clean, and wash your hands as your kindergarden teacher had taught you. These would not only prevent H1N1, but will prevent others diseases as well. Quanrantining hotels and over panicing are clearly not necessary in this case, and just wasting the tax-payers money!!

H1N1 is a flu~~not SARS! Just like a common flu, the symptoms of H1N1 is mild although it spreads easily. He said we have 2 flu seasons every year, so u reckon we should quanrantine everybody 2 times a years during the flu seasons?!
