Part I of IV:

Here is a four part performance of Mozart's Singspiel "The Impresario" (Der Schauspieldirektor) starring Rere Grist, Judith Raskin, Richard Lewis, Sherrill Milnes, and Leo McKern as the impresario! Andre Previn conducts the English Chamber Orchestra in Dory Previn's English translation or "20th Century transplantation"!

  • Where's the singing?

  • @rockgor "Singspiel" literally means "song-play". It is a German form of music drama now often considered opera. Mozart's best known Singspiel is "Die Zauberflöte" or "Magic Flute". Beethoven's "Fidelio" would be another example.

But to answer your question, if you continue to listen to the entire work, there will be a great deal of singing as you listen to the remaining parts of "The Impresario".

  • Thanks for adding this production. I was looking for the Previn english version for many years. Vivacious and wonderful.
