DNA Replication Process

http://www.FreeScienceLectu... We travel inside nucleus to see how the DNA replicates. When DNA replicates its strands are separated by enzine helicase. Single-stranded DNA binding proteines keep...

helicase:opens the helix, by breaking hydrogen bonds ...while Topoisomerase: relaxes the helix.

=O Best video I've seen all day!!! Thank you SO much! It really helped me understand the difference between polymerase I and polymerase III.

Thank you for the video. Helped connect the missing links in my comprehension of the concept.

HELICASE is not topoisomerase.

Helicase is the enzyme that breaks the hydrogen bonds between the two double helix strands to form 2 single strands for replication... When the DNA is "untwisting" for replication to start, it starts to coil on one end. Topoisomerase cuts the double stranded DNA and rejoins it in the same place to relieve the tension caused by the unwinding... think of it like a shoelace. if you hold both ends while its coiled, you can uncoil it by cutting/rejoining pieces.

lol it's never too late to study....
it actually is if you've got an exam the next day and you need a quick way of learning the concepts xD
that's why they invented YouTube!! XD
hehe jk

Good video...As for comments I have to agree with Nicebrass21 and say you are WRONG LoveHM770.

Helicase is not the same thing as the topoisomerase. If two strings are wrapped around each other and you start pulling them apart (helicase), tension will appear where they are still wrapped around each other and topoisomerase breaks DNA to relieve this tension. =P

nah helicase breaks the hydrogen bond between the two parental strands. DNA topoisomerase flattens out the DNA ahead of the ori in order to prevent tangling and coiling. that pink thing in the video is the helicase. topoisomerase would be on the unsplit sections of DNA
