Aviation Week dot com has a small write up that indicated it was either a GPS problem or "rotor droop", a condition where the downwash of the rotor was at the same speed as the descent of the copter, causing the blades to provide no lift.

Was probably a vortex ring state. Given the bad weather the pilot was probably descending to fast vertically.

look closely at the pilot door at 0:10 it looks like the gets open and the pilot falls out
