@opinioninflicting What history you are talking about? This is made in '66 and now is 2010! It is GREAT, but when you listen to Coltrane you can't ignore the time he worked. NOT an easy ride for a black musician or any black person. Looks like you are listening to the notes coming from his sax. What I am hearing is human being deeply wounded by his time... or you think is easy to live with a all restrictions at this time... Anyway just some remarks, no hard feelings!!!

@opinioninflicting It only sucks in comparison to himself though. (Maybe) Otherwise it's magnificent by all accounts...

insanity is repeating the same attempt in hopes for change. This is merely a musical spectra. The tide and ebb flow of him and her she and he, or what ever you prefer..... The train mang....

the sound of human horror, & human insane

I think you're being honest in your criticism. I just don't think what you say is true.

What a beatiful photo. Alice i s gorgeous. And John is still.

the music quality shifts because the vibrations become too much for magnetism to pick up thus we get the weird muting and fading in the middle of this.. Its all energy and these guys are sumoning the energy into one place... hahaha
All these namecallings and egotistical displays. For what? Surely not in the spirit of John Coltrane, as told by those who knew him. What a shame.

Look, Coltrane was making all this shit up as he went along. That resulted in 50% unfathomable brilliance, 50% "not as good as unfathomable brilliance." I've listened to it enough to be able to be able to tell the difference. Compared to the solos on Interstellar Space, Transition, parts of Stellar Regions, the Olatunji Concern, Live in Japan, this solo sucks. That's all I'm saying.
