Jendayi Frazer is recognized as a leading architect of U.S. foreign policy to Africa over the last decade. She served as Assistant Secretary of State overseeing the Africa Bureau, was the first woman appointed as U.S. Ambassador to South Africa and served at the National Security Council where she was instrumental in the establishment of the President's Emergency Plan for HIV/AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) as well as the Millennium Challenge Account that contributed to significantly raising U.S. assistance to Africa. Ambassador Frazer teaches several classes to Heinz College students in Washington DC and Pittsburgh, and serves as the Director of Carnegie Mellon's Center for International Policy and Innovation (CIPI).
