-- NOT THE SAME FPS ISSUE AS PS3 USERS HAVE --
This seems to happen when a backwards facing dragon spazzes out because it can't land. The problem fixes itself if the dragon is far away.

I have fought multiple dragons since 1.2 and had no issues. This particular Frost Dragon was from a bounty quest given by Dawnstar's innkeeper, and was hanging around Bonestrewn Crest.
Backwards dragons are pretty hard to shoot! However they start to hover once they are pretty far away so I shot it to death, at which point it started to spazz out in midair and the game started lagging. I believe the low FPS could be some kind of physics problem when the dragon animation went nuts, because if I approach the dragon it flies away at a really high altitude and the FPS returns to normal.
It has since flown off the map entirely, to the NE of Wildhelm, rendering the quest uncompletable. This has also had the effect of 'pushing' my world map to the right, to keep track of the quest marker, and I couldn't see anything west of Markarth until I fast travelled there.

  • How did I get here from looking for better ways to make Normal Maps for Skyrim?

  • Game of the year hah?

  • i thought this happened only on ps3

  • Lol am I the only one who doesn't had any serious glitches even after 300 hours?

  • I used to make videos like you then i took a arrow to the knee :D

  • @schieds2 I think it's just like Fallout 3 with the tear issue. It seems if you go to an earlier save then start from there, everything is fine. Bethesda, a love/hate relationship.

  • get a damn pc

  • So much snowflakes! Happy xmass :3

  • this is happening to me as well on xbox 360 but it only happens when i am near a dragon. the frame rate drops a ton and i cant even play. i have tried deleting all my other saves so the only one save left is the current one at 9mb. And i can try to restart my 360 and it is still slow. dunno what is going on to cause this

  • just restart your XBOX/PS3 and it work fine. The same happens to me on the ps3.
