Does it really matters if it had a 20 years production span? That just means it had great sales, which it's nothing interesting to point. It's like saying Transformers 3 was good because it is the 4th highest grossing movie of all time.

The genesis incorporated the first modern gamepad, not the NES. Also, the SNES was who popularized the layout, not the NES...

@GeoVII Hm, I grew up in the '90s era, which is know as one of the best era of videogames...I don't need to appreciate the older games more, unless we're talking about megaman, simply because the newer versions improved them in every single way.

I also suppose that the fact that it was the first and only console to have a 20 year production span, incorporation of the modern D-pad, and high sales/reception during an era when the video gaming industry was practically dead counts for nothing eh? How the hell can you compare a 6th gen platform that borrowed tons of ideas from previous generations to a 3rd gen platform like the Famicom?

Meh, don't listen to him. The only reason Melkac talks the way he does is because he grew up in a generation where video game tropes are already well established. Just like we can't appreciate the audacity of rock and roll from our parents' generation, he can't appreciate the joy of discovery that came with the original Zelda. His generation already takes much of what we grew up with for granted. His loss, not ours.
