the 2nd solo by page is ridonculous. i've loved that since i was about 5 years old. he just rips into that solo, loses himself for just a second, sets himself up for something big, and then just annihilates the end of it. what a fucking legend.

This version is so superior to the one they used on the re-release, it's ridiculous. The second solo is one of my favorites from Jimmy, and that's saying a lot.

If you've never been to a big city on a Friday night, this is what it's like! the whole feel is out there on the boulevard.

I have this on vinyl too. My parents gave me their record collection 10 years ago.

@egall090 Indeed - and before we had digital music (CDs etc) that was how we would identify which part of a song we want to skip to - by placing the needle in one of the stripes. Ah, the good old days !

@brownyman64 Ah of course. How could I not realize that! It's actually pretty neat when you look at something like "What Is and What Should Never Be". You can see stripes go along the record.

I'm actually kinda sad that when they re-released The Song Remains The Same in 2007, they switched this version with a different one. I think this one is slightly better. Also, at 1:00 when the picture switches to the record, it looks like the last song on that side hasn't been played as much. Not too big on The Rain Song, I guess?

@egall090 I like both personally
As far as it being played a lot, I don't know. These records are actually my dad's so I don't know how much he played them back in the day. He's a fan of playing the whole side so as not to risk scratching the vinyl up but maybe he didn't used to be that way or something I dunno. Nice catch though!

@egall090 Nothing to do with how much the track is played - the appearance is due to the quieter feel of Rain Song. Check any vinyl record - especially those with quiet intros - you will see the difference.

@brownyman64 That is very interesting! Thank you for your insight... I never realized that either about vinyl.
