  • I salute Bachmann for offering models of the early trains; they started in the mid 1980s! And now Lionel is offering many of the same trains for the O gauge hobbyist. I hope Bushwacker 2008 was able to find a model railroader in his area to help him get his Dewitt Clinton running!

  • i got him for £65.00

  • JD41796, The motor is in the tender. Many HO models of 1800s steam locomotives have " tender drive " because the boiler is too small for the motor assembly.

  • I had trouble with my train stalling. I lifted up the tender's canopy, unscrewed the tender floor with a jeweler's screwdriver, lifted out the motor, bent the electrical contacts ( they are below the motor ) slightly upward, & lubed the gears with Labelle teflon grease & the bearings with Labelle oil. I reassembled the tender & it ran good after that!

  • ive got that same set i payed 70 $'s for it and it was worht it!

  • I have the only the Locomotive and Tender how much can I sell it for?

  • Nice Vid. I have one of these things that I have never ran.

Mother bought it for me off QVC. hope she didnt pay too much for it.

I have O gauge. but a few HO pieces.

  • is the motor in the locomotive or the car behind it?

  • I have that train, too, but I did a number to the tender covering, the screw holding the locomotive to the tender is loose (now contained in the funnel with a piece of scotch tape covering it), and one of the wheels of the tender came off!

Oy... if only I understood how valueable those engines would be to me back then...

  • That should be a character in your series.
