okay. so does disliking the video mean that you hate DADT? or does it mean that you agree with DADT? confusing... but thank god DADT was repealed. FINALLY!!!
Undoubtedly I am going to take a lot of flak for this, but it needs to be said.
The title of this video is incorrect. Lt. Colonel Victor Fehrenbach IS NOT BEING discharged for being gay.
I watched the whole thing 3 times. And nowhere do they touch on WHY he is being discharged.
Now, undoubtedly he is a credit to himself, to the Units he served and to his country. Undoubtedly he is a valuable highly trained, highly skilled asset. And he is NOT being discharged for being gay.
The policy of Dont Ask, Dont Tell IS fair. And nowhere does it state that Lt. Colonel Victor Fehrenbach intentionally violated that policy. He did so intentionally, deliberately and with full understanding of the implications and undoubted outcome. He is trying to portray himself as the victim but he is not. He is saying he is devastated, absolutely devastated but I doubt that.
It is not a horrible law. It is quite fair and balanced. And it certainly is an improvement from the time I was in the military where they could question you, investigate you and discharge you, simply on suspicion.
It doesn't make sense to me that they would discharge someone who has done so much on behalf of the US. I hope Obama keeps his promise to get rid of this horrible "law" at some point in his presidency.
