Matt Devlin Tribute - Law&Order:UK

This is a tribute to Detective Sergeant Matt Devlin from the show Law & Order: UK

Matt was gunned down in the line of duty at the end of the Series 5 finale as he pushed a 12 year old witness out of the line of fire. He was gone way too soon and left a gaping hole in the lives of his friends and colleagues.

This mostly focuses on his partner Ronnie Brooks, close friend Alesha Philips, and boss Natalie Chandler as they were the most effected by his passing, especially Ronnie who viewed Matt as his son.

Awesome video - loved the Ronnie/Matt friendship. I remember watching with baited breath, and lost it when I saw Ronnie's reaction at the crime scene ... he was heartbroken. Then when he says it - "Matt is dead" - I lose it every time. Did they ever give Matt a funeral? That would've been great, especially with a touching eulogy by his longtime mate/partner Ronnie Brooks.

@Scrappy527 Matt didn't have a funeral, that would have been very heart-breaking, though I think this episode was a great enough tribute. A funeral scene might just upset me even more so maybe it was better they didn't have one. I'm gonna miss Matty and Ronnie so much, it just won't be the same without them together.

BetaArtemis! I understand the situation too! But Matt could change his job after wounds or just leave as Still. Really there isn't the necessity to die, to kill the hero!

Anyway it upsets me too and I watch the first seasons of "Law and Order" again to be at peace with myself)))

@Ksenya225 Matt changing his job or leave just wouldn't work, being a cop is a part of who Matt is, take that away and you take a huge part of who he is as a character, I'd rather he die a hero, doing the job he loves than being relegated to desk work or some other job. I guess you don't like it when heroes die, but this one I see as necessity, I don't want Matt to exit any other way. He died saving a child's life, that IS who Matt is. @Ksenya225 I understand why it had to be done because of Jamie Bamber's exit, so no, I don't protest, and the story was written so beautifully to give him a goodbye that he deserves so while it upsets me and hurts me, I am okay with it. It is in the tradition of Law and Order that characters and stories move on, and I will never forgive Matt and his journey.

@Ksenya225 Thank you for the comment! I just had to make the vid, I miss him so much! It was just too heartbreaking! This was my way of letting go of my grief, maybe Heaven was the one needing a hero so they called him home. - BetaArtemis (on my backup-account)
