I don't get why this bothers you so much, and the sad thing is all the illegal immigrant talks in the US are fueled by prejudice. One of the arguments i see people using a lot is: "What if i were to go to Brazil illegally, i would go to jail!". No you wouldn't, being in Brazil "illegally" is not a CRIME, hence no jail time. All the government can do is give you a letter of deportation.
