The Kinks were an English rock group created in 1963. It is said that the Kinks were one of the most influential bands for many groups that followed. They penned most of their hits.

The Kinks first hit in 1964 was "You Really Got Me", written by Ray Davies. The group's original line-up consisted of Ray Davies on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and keyboards, Dave Davies on lead guitar, Pete Quaife on bass guitar, and Mick Avory on drums.
As Kinks fan Pete Townshend said for The History of Rock 'n' Roll: "The Kinks were much more quintessentially English. I always think that Ray Davies should one day be Poet Laureate. He invented a new kind of poetry and a new kind of language for pop writing that influenced me from the very, very, very beginning nice one Pete !!!.

Blur were an English alternative rock band that formed in London in 1989. The four members of the band are: Damon Albarn (vocals), Graham Coxon (guitar), Alex James (bass guitar) and Dave Rowntree (drums). Blur's debut album was Leisure (1991). Following a stylistic change in 1992 they were influenced by English guitar groups such as The Kinks, The Beatles and XTC

Blur and Oasis popularity was akin to the Beatle and Stones popularity war of the 60s and 70s

However, am I the only one who thinks "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" inspired Austin Powers?

The Kinks are so brilliant, Blur are good I personally prefer the Manc band who told them to die of a certain taboo disease even though I like em'.
