D-Zaina female clothing line has been known in the past for providing trendy ethnic prints designed by Zaina Riech. D-Zaina clothing was founded by Zaina Riech's cousin Robin Beau.
The overall goal of the new design project is to promote the native Ugandan cloth called kikoy (or kikoi) it is a decorative cotton/cloth mostly seen in Eastern Africa, foremost along the coast of the Indian Ocean i.e. Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Mozambique and Uganda. In these regions they are not only used as garment but also as a means of communication. However she used the original Kikoy (those without the toweling) it is similar to sarong and it is often worn by women at weddings or royal events they are also increasingly worn by men and children of all ages around the waist in hot climates. The Kikoy serves the same role in East
African apparel as the t-shirt does in modern western society -- as an inexpensive, informal piece of clothing that can be decorated with a huge variety of colours and patterns.
This collection is for the women and should always make them feel like royalty.
