so my friend, we shall create realities where a resounding YES echoes throughout

  • The question, "is it possible to be a human being anymore?" at first may sound like an absurd one, but if you consider his stances on the impositions that certain institutional structures have on a persons persona it makes sense.

To Laing, the definition of what it meant to be a human being were too narrowly defined and anyone who deviated from these expectations was labeled as mentally ill.

I think this was Laing's reactionary view upon the overt labeling that psychiatry used to do.

I don't have it, but let me know if you find it, thanks. sounds interesting.

  • The answer to all these question is of course, NO!

  • @maxim54321 It was also brave of him to have repudiated the very concrete nature of repressiveness in our culture, while, himself, being a guilty party. He apportioned much to the dysfunctional family as the source of madness, and living this out by abandoning his own family.

  • Laing got stuck in the world of Samsara as we all do from time to time, especially presidents. That's their job, Uncle Samsarah.

  • profound questions that i think go too-often ignored.

  • does anyone have the interview with Gay byrne on the late late show ( in ireland) with laing in which byrne accused laing of being drunk?

  • Thanks for sharing this valuable information. I would like to see more of this out-there! Excellent! Extraordinary!

  • Possibly some of the most interesting, real and brave questions a man could find possible to ask.
