Schalken the Painter (1/5)

A painter, a woman he loves, and a scary nobleman. Very creepy 1979 TV version of Sheridan LeFanu ghost story, never on video. Quality is poor (from VHS) but very hard to see otherwise! Note: some artistic nudity.

Sorry, this is as good as it gets. I'd love to see a proper DVD release, but for some reason the BBC sits on this one even when other ghost stories of this era have been released. A real shame, I'd love to see it in a better version.

Thank you so much for posting this, I had given up hope of ever seeing it again! What a shame the BBC can no longer get anywhere near this quality. Their agenda seems to be to dumb-down the public.

@Mgmax1919 I remember watching this quality BBC production in 1979. I loved the 70s ghost stories, and I 've been looking for a copy of this particular one since then. Another favorite was (Warning to the Curious), from Christmas 1972.

Great television show. I wish it was available on DVD. I've literally been wanting to get hold of a copy of this program for thirty years. Does anyone know if it's available anywhere?
