These wasps had no idea what they were facing when they tried to invade beehive #2. A new bee hive that came from a box of bees would not have done as well as this already established nuc. Way to go girls!

  • Hey, where did you get your bees from? They are so nice and calm with you. I am looking to start a hive for the first time and I would like to know if you know what kind they are and if you could tell me where you purchased them? Thanks in advance Bro. Prepper :)

  • @lanzipants I got my hives from BeeWildeDOTcom. Great people. They raise awesome bees.

  • Maybe this will help. Entrance reducers on hives that are not fully developed are a necessity. the activity in front of these hives suggest you need them. The reducers that came with your hive have two common size doors. Since the bees are backing up with the largest, what you need to do is make your own reducers with larger openings, for this level of activity somewhere around 60-75% of the length of the whole reducer. Once the hive is full strength you can pull the reducers.

  • @Keith5274 Awesome. Thanks.

  • I really like the stain color! I have a Top Bar Hive and put 6 coats of the Helmsman Spar satin varnish on it, keeping the wood's color. After seeing yours, I wish I had used the walnut. Are your hives 8 or 10 frames? Did they come from Brushy Mt ?

  • @SinnKanos The brood box is 10 the rest are 8 frame supers. They did come from Brushy Mountain.

  • @LDSPrepper ...great, now I know where to order mine from when I am ready for them. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

  • @honeybees1 two coats of Minwax Dark Walnut 2716 stain plus Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane clear satin varnish.

  • Those are some good looking hives, what did you use on the wood looks sharp. Thanks for posting.

  • @generalbomax I went out yesterday and put on the reducers. Within 60 seconds the front of the hive started to get covered with bees trying to get in. I am concerned the neighbors will start complaining so I removed the reducer. The hive seems strong enough to fend for themselves. I have not seen any invaders inside. I'm hoping for the best.
