This is the result of skulking around the Internet and "borrowing" ideas off a lot of people. Not to mention, bidding on eBay for batteries and chargers, plus trolling the pawn shops in town for a bike.
I really like your design! I know you 'borrowed' ideas, but I love how you coupled the dewalt a123 lipoe battery packs with the hub motor. I was thinking of building one myself. Can you tell us approximately how far you can go on just batteries?
...batteries in panniers would lower the centre of gravity lots...

Trek mountainbike should work well. Would be balanced with 2 batteries in rear panniers. Adjustable stems are heavy and shakey.
