Medicaid is America's insurance policy against serious illness, higher health care costs and higher deficits. Medicaid provides essential coverage to nearly 60 million Americans-- mostly children, pregnant woment, the disabled and seniors--at a lower cost than private insurance. Medicaid keeps people healthy and working. This video depicts the importance of preventing additional federal funding cuts to ensure that patients continue to receive the vital health care services that they depend on. It also reminds policymakers that "Medicaid saves lives, and Medicaid works for the economy." While it is clear that that our Nation needs to reduce its debt and deficit spending—harming children, seniors, the disabled and poor persons is neither a smart nor compassionate way to balance the budget. Protecting Medicaid is crucial in caring for the health of our Nation. When people lose Medicaid - we ALL pay the premium.
