Yea I know this video is old but even when the tethered jailbreak was released there was actually 0% chance of bricking your ipod unless you start screwing around with command prompt and enetering in random codes that might lead to it becoming bricked but only a gay dumshit would want to do that otherwise good vid.

everytime my 2nd gen jailbroken iouch runs out of battery, i jus stick it in my pc, run the steps from like 5-9 on this program i have and it works perfectly. it takes about 2 mins to do...

The point of the jail break is to let me use an ipod that is even more like my pc why would i do that when it has to be plugged into my pc anyway?
