Architecture Academy

This conceptual project began with the private home of the great Uruguayan architect, Mario Paysse-Reyes, whose home is a national heritage site. The pretext to the project is that the University of Miami has purchased the existing home (seen to the right in the opening scene) and has commissioned an architecture academy on the adjacent lot. The new building (seen to the left in the opening scene) is to allow 8 to 10 students to come during different times of the year to study. In addition to individual and group work spaces, the new building will also have exhibition and lecture space, a library, offices for two faulty members as well gardens and space for private and impromptu discussions. I chose as my design strategy to integrate the new building with the old so that they are hardly distinguishable. Thereby rejuvenating the old and sanctifying the new.
