Dramatic video footage of two critically endangered Javan rhinos and their calves. (The second rhino appears at 02:02.)

The footage, from a motion-activated video camera in Indonesia's Ujung Kulon National Park, is a huge boost to efforts to save this almost extinct species that is threatened by poaching, disease, and the possibility of a tsunami or volcanic eruption.

  • @RaNdOmViDs1221 I was in a bizzare mood when I posted that comment. I will delete it now.

  • @avalanchesuperstar Really? There are poachers from pretty much every country. You clearly have no understanding of poaching. It's not just Chinese people. It's Americans, it's Africans, it's Peruvians. Almost every country legally, and illeagally hunts animals. Where did you pull out this random Chinese hunter crap? It's more than just Asians.

  • Rhino horn is NOT medicine.

  • @humblepie6 There are still some in Java, just the Vietnamese subspecies was lost. The Javan population is actually pretty stable and they are breeding so there is still hope for them. The problem now is there isn't really enough space for the population to grow in a safe place.

  • @Xanxus29 i agree that humans shoudnt hunt endangered animals, but your a human, the house you live in was built by humans, and the computer you wrote your comment on is a human invention,so treat humans and animals equally

  • @velanapontinha They're extinct in Vietnam, not Java. There's subspecies and variants; these ones are filmed in Ujung Kulon National Park, where it's believed that there is a population of around 50 individuals now. The Vietnamese subspecies is now extinct.

  • @Xanxus29 last ones dead today no more

  • NOTE: these animals are now extinct in Vietnam but luckly, there are some left. lets hope for the best and that they survive.

  • They are now officially extinct. Damn us!
