Theists have books that tell them that certain acts (murder, slavery, theft of land, keeping virgins as spoils of war, etc.) are condoned or even demanded by their gods, but atheists have no book of rules that excuse or demand such behavior. "I don't believe in a god" is no more a reason to kill than "I don't believe in invisible garden faeries" is.

Nom,
he was talking about Julia Sweeney.

Can someone tell me who he was referring to in he video--the girl who did a monologue about her coming out experience? The audio isn't that clear and my hearing isn't that great. Thanks!

Richard is so cute when his phone goes off. Hihi.
I felt the same when I became an atheist as the blond bloke who used to be in a seminary. It deed indeed feel like a weight lifting from your shoulders. And I'm an ex-catholic as well. (Although as Richard pointed out you remain a catholic for life unless you are ex-communicated! Bastards.)
Dawkins is a hero of reason. Wonderful.

I'd like to see what percentage of priests are actually atheists. I'd bet it's higher than you might think. A lot of them just stick with it after they realise it's bullshit because it's all they know. It becomes just their job.
