**Lots of LINKS below**

In this vlog I discuss various work, study and live abroad options, including the JET Program of course.

I also show some footage from a recent campus visit at a Programs Abroad EXPO.

For more info about upcoming campus visits with in-depth info about the JET application from consulate staff, check out my blog at
http://jasoninjapan.blogspot.com/

The template URL I gave for a city or country Japanese consulate in your area is:

http://www.(your city).us.emb-japan.go.jp (for American cities)
ex. http://www.ny.us.emb-japan.go.jp for New York
or http://www.portland.us.emb-japan.go.jp for Portland, OR

Sometimes the country abbreviation can be a little difficult to deduce.
For Example - Ireland's consulate page is http://www.ie.emb-japan.go.jp
so check with Google if it doesn't work for you.

websites mentioned:

Go Abroad.com is http://www.goabroad.com

The Chinese teaching program where you can also get your Master's degree is:
http://www.cui.edu/mais

Lastly, my JET dedicated Twitter is http://twitter.com/JapanJET

Another JET video next week after I attend the in-depth info session at UCSD - I'll report back any interesting tips or strategy.

See ya,
Jason

  • Are there programs for people who are 38 and wanting to go abroad and teach or something?

  • @bordmanjr I was 35 when I became a JET, but most JETs are in their early to mid 20s.

  • I am not a native English speaker, but have been living in the states ever since I was a kid, is there a way I can still teach English in Japan?

  • @ColdDeadKitty If you're an American citizen, then you can apply and if you made it to the interview, then your ability to speak English would be judged at that point.

  • @myargonauts I think if you're a non-native speaker but a citizen, then there may be a time component, like you have to have lived in the US for X number of years, etc. Do your research and make sure - email the local Japanese consulate and they can help.

  • Im sorry and how would I do florida for that jet website???

  • @gtr34legend example of the link is in the description box above

  • For everyone who wants to teach abroad, there are well over 50 countries that are popular for paid teaching. You simply take a TEFL certification class and interview for one of the 250,000 jobs a year. Half of the teachers leave after 1 year leaving 100,000 new positions available. Go to International TEFL Academy for information

  • @ColdDeadKitty So that would work for JET too or no? Because on their website and on a lot of things of the same nature they say that they are looking for a native speaker.

  • @FerJH2 I have Japanese friends in Japan who are taking Spanish instead of English. There's hope for you yet!
