A very short song by Paul McCartney, taught to me by another left-handed guitarist called John back in Bristol over 30 years ago.

  • is that a different song to the beatles ?

  • @stelloyd90 No, it's the end track off Abbey Rd, played by Paul McCartney on his own. I was taught the chord and fingering sequence back in 1972 by a bloke called John (I can't remember his second name) who is also left handed, and who is a much better guitarist than I'll ever be. But he taught me it in C rather than D, and others on here reckon it should be in D. Either way, I think it is a good song, and I am happy that I can still remember it.

  • @BobHUK i no what song it is , i was not being nasty by my comment but it is in D , i myself play the guitar and have been playing gigs playing this track at the end of one of the sets , its a nice little song but you play it in the wrong key sorry

  • @stelloyd90 Oh, I see. Sorry, I obviously misunderstood what you were trying to say. I must admit I find the chord and fingering sequence fairly easy in C, and it suits my vocal range better as well, so I will continue to play it in that key. I suppose I could always put the capo on the 2nd fret to bring it in line with Paul McCartney, but I can't reach the higher notes that he can, so I would struggle. Anyway, thanks for the comments, it is always good to know that someone is watching.

  • wow! great! u played it real fast but its still amazing! i love the left handedness. and how u stop so abruptly. i prefer to play it with the end chord, though. but still

  • @wagonrace I tried to play it at about the same speed as it is on the record, and I also did the abrupt end just like on the record, however I have heard Paul McCartney play a longer version live, where he just sang doo doo be doo's for the second verse, then repeated the first verse as a third verse.

  • Nice!

  • the way you play guitar, reminds me of nick drake, you should look him up if you like the beatles, about the same time.

  • @Icymarky0123 Thanks for your comments. It is good to know that people still have a listen to it now and again. I have a habit of playing everything a bit faster than it should be played, then I get my fingers in a twist and end up ruining it. Ah well, never mind. I'm not going to re-record it, but I think you are absolutely right that I did play it a bit fast on that occasion.

  • good playing but you play it maybe too fast!

  • great great great sir :)
