A great song is a great song. that being said Dwight sang it beautifully and didn't lose a drop of meaning. Love this!

As a Clash fan I think this it's really cool to see a country star like Dwight Yoakum cover a Clash song. The Clash themselves covered songs from many genres and were inspired in their own music by different genres. Anyone who's ever listened to London Calling, Sandinista, or Combat Rock knows that the Clash did EVERYTHING.

@texs2007 Yeah this is one of Mick's songs about his ex-girlfriend Viv Albertine. He used to take a long train ride to her place to see her, and when they broke up and she stopped letting him in the door he basically took the train for nothing... Hence, "Train in Vain" :)

Absolutely incredible cover of a great tune. Why are you listening and commenting if you're a punk fa with no ability expand your tastes? I like both versions...

Like it or not,it takes balls to cover a rock song in the country field....and both Dwight and Dolly Parton have shown they can be ballsy when they wanna be.

@utubeftl I thought Mick wrote this,not Joe.

It's alright, but The Clash's version is much better. : )

if punk is attitude- this is punk
First things first, I should mention that I'm a huge Clash fan. Second: do you know anything about Dwight Yoakam? For instance, did you know that when he first went to LA he generally played shows with bands like The Blasters and X? His appreciation of punk likely began before you were born, kid.
