Nintendo Wii will not turn off. HELP!

i have a wii that works fine. i can turn it on from the controller power button or the console power button. but when i turn it off from either of the two, the power light stays green but the video and audio feed turn off. i can push power, reset and nothing happens, i can also eject disk while in this state. the controller loses functionality and shuts off and will not come on or sync. i have to physically hold the power button on the console until power light turns red. once light is red i can then power back on normally with remote or power button. any help is greatly appreciated!

Correct, if ur light goes amber then u have your wiiconnect option turned on for standby. Turn it off in ur Wii settings. But that wasn't the problem I was having.... :)

should be safe to turn off if it is stuck on testing connection. does it do this everytime you turn on?

My wii is stuck on the testing connection thingy. and it wont turn off, or go to the home page. it just sits there saying, "testing connection". PLZ HELP!!!

if you turn your wii console off and there's and orange light on there. That means u have the Wii messages service enabled bud. Disable the wii message service then the light will turn red. Kolerik

i have the same problem except when i try turn it off the light goes an orange colour and to make the light go red i have to hold the power bouton on the wii console.
