Attacking the inside arm with an americana shoulder lock variation. Ideal to set up in combination with traditional far side arm attacks.

  • Isn't the Americana also known as the Top Wrist Lock?

  • Sounds like a catch wrestling name for it- either that or "top double wrist lock" There are lot's of different names for the Americana depending on who's teaching it to you.

  • thats really sneaky, bet you can catch a person off guard with that move.

  • Frequently.

  • When's your next fight, Ramsey? I wanna see you apply all this stuff in battle. :)

  • My next fight will most likely be a sanda match in Shanghai, China sometime in the next 10 months.

  • @kennjay79 funny thing is i have caught 2 blackbelts in this and both never saw it comming

  • I think it would be easier and more applicable if you initiated this from a north south position. I'm not saying this is wrong, but any blue belt and above won't let you just get into that position.

  • top wrist lock is still used on the outside arm. also one other note youll find out they put the inside arm on your chest as your attacking the americana at that point is when i like to attache thier arm to my chest and slide in under the shoulder and then above the hips with your leg and hips

  • Also when you do catch someone in this it totaly surprises them and catches them off guard

  • i do all the time, still havent caught danger in it yet. maybe when he gets back from china and we gets to roll again maybe then he will have forgot that i know this one well. GOOD LUCK in china ramsey.

  • You're going to China, cool! Good luck to you. Use some Judo on those Chinese guys, throws are allowed in Sanda. :)

  • Cool liked the vid.

Gene Lebell showed how to do that in his book "Encyclopedia of Finishing holds"

Thanks for posting definately gives an good plan B
