This would make Kevin proud.

Damn!!!!! "The Shaming of the True" is in my top 10 favorite CDs of all time. Kevin was a genius. Wish I'd had a chance to meet him...

@Quickstoptim your comment says it all
both of these guys were so exceptionally talented it's like a kick in the guts to
try to imagine how much music wasnt made

Really Like that version, some of the drive is missing, true, but I find this version to be more moody

@SaborCaracter .....if I may. i just discovered KG thru links after watching David Baerwald videos. Both guys were instrumental in Sheryl Crow's rise to stardom. The invited her to join in their "tuesday night music club" to try out some of her material. In fact, she and KG were an "item". I had no idea.

I once was the stage manager for ProgWest 2002 where Nick D'Virgilio and Mike Keneally were the core of a performance of the entire Shaming of the True album, with a giant band. It was a huge undertaking for such a relative unknown like KG. I was already a big KG fan so that was one of the best events I ever worked. Respect to anyone who takes on KG's music with faithful intent. At least there isn't a Gail Zappa figure to chase people away from doing so.

I just realized something.

Are there any other live footage from this show availabe, or is it just this song and The Edge of the Earth that have been recorded on video from this concert?
-
@shpidoinkle Shaun did "The City of the Sun" and "Water Under the Bridge"
Jeez... This Kevin Gilbert is truly fantastic! He does sound like Peter Gabriel to me, but since I consider him a genius too, it only adds to what I think now of Kevin Gilbert. Who would have thought that my aunt watching a lame video from Sheryl Crow actually was the reason that I got to know Kevin Gilbert? I read how she stole Kevin's songs and "built" her career around it. It must be hard for her, living and maintaining a complete lie over Kevin's dead body. Thanks for this video!

My two cents? I think Shaun does and the rest of the performers do the song justice. Gilberts studio version is the definitive one but I have to give props to all of these guys. I miss Kevin and Shaun. RIP
