From the Canadian Press: "Cheech and Chong have some blunt advice for Stephen Harper when it comes to Canada's drug laws. The stoner comedy duo believe marijuana should be legalized and suggest Mr. Harper is out of step with the public will."

  • @nimrodery The police reports are online. Your ignorance is amazing, just google it. This made every newspaper across Canada, so obviously you don't read them or watch the news

  • @nimrodery It's all online. Jack Layton got caught in an underground massage parlour naked with a young Asian girl when he could have used his government benefit package to see a chiropractor. Harper, on the other hand, has Canada being named the most respected country in the world. As for legalizing pot, he doesn't want to be the one to ok people's kids getting stoned instead of becoming outstanding students. Use your head to think!

  • @nimrodery

Besides, the main point I was trying to make was that police states, or governments that have any interest in establishing a police state don't reduce firearms regulation. Doesn't happen.

Nazi Germany, Communist Russia and Communist China, Kmher Rouge Cambodia, and any other oppressive regime you could think of all were big fans of gun control.

(Oh, and the CF in my previous posts stands for Canadian Forces)

  • @nimrodery

You misunderstood. Most of the firearms the CF uses are chambered in 5.56mm or a gopher round. Most Canadians own large calibres with much greater range and much more lethal.

MBT's (Main Battle Tanks) are very good when used against other armoured targets, but are often not very effective against infantry. Especially in a country as rugged as Canada. You probably couldn't even get a Leopard II through 99% of Canada. Hit and run Guerrilla warfare wins in the long run.

  • @EruditeCanadian Hopefully the government sends tanks made out of gophers.

  • @nimrodery

Also, automatic fire is often highly overrated. Real life isn't like Rambo movies, and more often than not, infantry don't even use their weapons on automatic fire. It's a good way to waste bullets and not hit anything.

Another thing to consider is the most popular rifles in Canada are of the .308/.30-06 variety. These are large, long range calibres that seriously outperform the standard CF 5.56mm round, both in range and stopping power. (the 5.56 is used by hunters for gophers)

  • @nimrodery

The Canadian public own more firearms that the Canadian military does. Somewhere between 7 to 11 million guns owned by between 2.4 and 3.8 million people. That would pose big problems for the government if the shit hit the fan.

Modern weaponry and technology is often ill matched to a grass roots insurrection, as witnessed by our trouble in Afghanistan.

Most often hunters and hobby shooters are extremely good with their weapons and usually make the best snipers in combat.

  • @EruditeCanadian Yeah, cause a few rifles and handguns could easily take out the army. Automatic weapons, tanks, helicopters, jets, missiles: no match for a few good hobby shooters.

  • @dazxmedia Harper's party got 40% of the popular vote. It's just the way elections work in Canada, until we scrap "first past the post".

  • @Jamespot24 So you haven't read the bill....
