@AlcoholLevel Breadcrumbs to soak up the juice of the filling. In this case sour cherry. AFTER the sour cherry is scattered on top you put on cinnamon sugar.

this is very inspiring. most people make "strudel" from a premade frozen piece of dough, and then have a huge filling right in the middle making it too dense. i'd love to try a piece of your grandmother's retes!
