Nessun Dorma / Pavarotti / 1979

I have tried not to duplicate specific versions of videos. In my scan of what is currently posted for Pavarotti Nessun dormas, This appears to be the earliest currently posted. January 22, 1979. There is al least one earlier ... the solo concert version on the Met stage from 1978. I believe I have it and will be digging through the tapes I have in storage to find it and hopefully post it. First of all thank you very, very much for this video. Great performance, highly ranked along with the one from 1981. He does seem a bit nervous and it shows in the "Tu pure..." glitch, where his voice slipped a bit. But that's nothing, this still lifts me off the feet and gets the obligatory tear in the eye.

Goodness--can you imagine singing a two hour+ concert at the very top of your game because your singing with the likes of Dame Joan and Marylin Horne, and then to have to hit the Nessun perfectly because you KNOW your audience is expecting perfection! Gad how daunting! Bravo ll Maestro!

@pbogdanovic Did you notice how his faced and eyes changed when the tiny glitch occurred? I noticed the nervous expression and playing w/the hands become total, focal concentration after the glitch! Every time I watch him perform, I believe, one can tell, by his eyes and facial expression, he is not actually seeing the audience, but is "inside himself" with concentration. Bravo, Maestro! There, I doubt, ever be anyone to compare to you!
