The 42nd object in the catalog made by the French astronomer Charles Messier is the Orion Nebula. It is 1.500 light years away from Earth and can be seen under "Orion's Belt" (a group of three stars also known as "the Three Marys").
The pictures were taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
