Almost 30 years ago, Richard Donner was hired to film Superman I and II. In 2006, most of Donner's original footage and vision for the second film was restored in a new Director's Cut. Powet.TV covers a brief history of the film's development, and compares the new version against the one that made it into theatres over 25 years before.

When Superman 2 came out I remember reading a review of it...don't recall who wrote but they were criticizing the first movie saying how everyone was a bunch of cardboard characters. Well I loved the first one, after that it was all downhill.

I like Donner's half finished film better than Lester's full movie. But hey, at least Lester didn't do a lame prequel trilogy twenty years later. And it's nice that this version is finally seeing the light of day.
