Osama Shabaik of the Irvine 11 addressing an audience in East Lansing
The talk was aimed at raising awareness about the Irvine 11 case, in order to redress the grave injustice that was meted out the 11 students.

This case is widely perceived a case of discriminatory vilification and disproportionate use of resources to unfairly convict a group of 11 students exercising their civic rights.

I'm so glad I had a chance to see this video and hear from one of the Irvine 11 directly. It is critical to have a balanced picture of the issues in this case. He should continue to travel and tell his story across America.

I cannot believe I wasted my time watching this. The guy is an idiot. He was wrong to deny Oren his right of free speech and to deny others the right to hear his speech. The DA was wrong to criminally prosecute him and the other dolts. He leaves a lot out and slants a lot of the evidence in the case. It is sad to see after all this he still doesn't get that what he did is not an example of protected right of free speech.

19 protesters were arrested in December 2010 at UC Irvine. The charges ranged from disorderly conduct, trespassing and public nuisance to false imprisonment. Fifteen of those charged were UC Irvine students. Their protest had nothing to do with Zionism. This guy has a persecution complex.

Freedom of speech, on campuses and elsewhere, is rendered meaningless if speakers can be shouted down by those who disagree. The law is well established that the government can act to prevent a heckler's veto -- to prevent the reaction of the audience from silencing the speaker. There is simply no 1st Amendment right to go into an auditorium and prevent a speaker from being heard, no matter who the speaker is or how strongly one disagrees with his or her message.
