I'll tell you what is just as scary as Barlow in Tobe Hooper's version of Salem's Lot, maybe more scarier in fact. The floating vampire kid who scratches at the bedroom window of his older brother, gave me nightmares when I watched that on TV the first time!

Now that is a real vampire.
It's too bad the next sound isn't Roland cocking his big sandlewood handle revolver and blasting its head off.
Hile Gunslinger!

He also played an alien in the original Star Trek series. He had a very distinctive voice. I'm surprised they didn't allow him to speak in 'Salem's Lot. Then again, they probably wanted to emphasize that vampires are about as far away from human beings as you can get.

scene went on too long. That long reaction shot of Ned is comical. Great jump scare though.

Jesus, Barlow is still a scary as hell vampire. (Completely different from the book, where he was a Dracula-style vampire who was in love with the sound of his own voice, but pretty damn effective.) It also helps that Reggie Nalder, the actor who played him, was pretty creepy without makeup (see him as the assassin in Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" for an example).
Show this to a bunch of Edward Cullen fangirls and enjoy the instant therapy bills you cause.
