you guys know nothing. What kind of accurate sound can one expect from a record changing turntable? the best sounding turntables are single play belt drive all manual units!!!!!!!!!! You owe it to your ears to get a new turntable from the likes of Rega, Music Hall, etc.....

I just bought one of these turntables at a yard sale just as clean as the one in this video. In my opinion if someone is trying to repair one of these turntables is to clean/ regrease the entire changer because one problem leads to another. The grease may look fine visually, but their could be dried grease in hidden areas such as pivot posts. The job is not hard, but you have to be patient. FYI you do not have to remove the tonearm.

@zl2ady I know what you mean. Belt dive is the way. But you got the biggest point missed! Its old, a proper vintage, not a low-end (cheap stereos from the late 80's and early 90's were worst in everything) and, has you said, build like battleships will last forever. Thats what vintage audio is all about.

Hi I dont know what drugs I am on either seeing as I dont take any. However althogh Garrard stuff was well made the designs were dated and sticking to rumble drive didnt improve teir chances much. This applies also to the 301/401 duo.Built like battleships they will never die but again the 401 was dated even as it came out and as a professional broadcaster working with these things the inherent drift made accurate timing a chancy thing. No other turntable had this problem.

@zl2ady Not sure what drugs you are on. Garrard were (and ARE STILL) one of the best names in consumer turntables. Even their basic autochanger units were fair sounding workhorses. Their top units are still prized today be they 50 years or 5 minutes old.

Is that a test pressing? looks like it from here, but then again the label could be just faded or something.

Garrard turntables used the antique rumble drive,No wonder they went to the wall aided by the legendary Pioneer Pl12D

What are you talking about? Garrard is know for their high-quality motors. I have an AT60 that I pulled out of a Montgomery Ward Airline that had been sitting for 20+ years and it's one of the best record changers I've ever had. I will admit that the mechanism doesn't always work properly but 9 times out of 10 it does; possibly because I don't have it in a cabinet.

I owned A Garrard GT25--it was as reliable as a Swiss watch. Never gave me any problems. Ran as quiet as a mouse too!
