I remember hearing some guy shouting "It's Friday!" on 96 Rock in Atlanta back in the late 80's. This was usually around 5PM (the 5 o'clock whistle), and then they'd go crazy on the radio. We'd usually hear songs like "Bang on the Drum All Day" by Todd Rundgren.

After doing a bit of looking around, I found the guy named Murray Saul that did the "It's Friday!" scream. Here's a clip from his radio show up north.

  • Friday afternoons on WMMS in the 70's. I'll never forget those days! Especially since I had the chance to chill with many of those DJ's (Jeff and Flash, Denny Sanders, Matt the Cat (he was a trip), Kid Leo, and Dia (and she was cute).

  • @Dukerdr And It Started Out At WMMS Right?

  • Murray started doing his "Weekend Salute" on Fridays back in 1974.....
