Dinners on fine china. Wine served before and during the meal and inflight service second to none. An fabulous airline which set a standard of excellence never seen again in this country and never with AC.

What an insult to compare Wardair to Air Canada - insult to Wardair, that is! What a wonderful airline it was. Seeing a plane in those old Wardair colours brought back many fond memories ...

@amarshan1 Porter is trying to bring back gentlemanly flying in our times... though obviously on a much smaller scale compared to Wardair. I miss those days as well.

@78logistics The Big Eight is my favourite historic jetliner. Although I sadly never got to fly in one, I watched them avidly as a kid while spotting. You are completely correct about how they ate up the concrete... A heavy Eight approaching the threshold was my greatest thrill...hearing those JT3Ds spool up with that piercing scream, then the buzzsaw noise, and the thunder boom as it moved ponderously down the runway. And then rotation would be so slight...and the smoke trails. How I miss it!

I flew out of YYJ on an AC DC-8-60 series in 1980 and believe you me we used very last inch of runway.....mind you the destination was YVR and the plane continued on to YUL as I recall. Wardair was a class act compared to today.

My first flight was on March 21, 1977, Vancouver to Honolulu on the Phil Garrett, Wardair's first 747 100 CF-DJC. I was terrified, having watched the movie "Airport" only days before! During boarding, the airbridge failed to auto level and crushed the door at 2L. We were delayed for hours while they pressure tested the fuselage. We eventually left, I dug my fingers into the armrest on T/O, and fell inlove with flying. Have since worked for AC, CP, QF, and now NZ as a F/A. Thanks Wardair!!!

Thank you for sharing this video. Sadly, I never got to fly on Wardair, but I always admired their jets when I was a kid. It was always a pleasure seeing their big birds at Pearson.

Max Ward knew how to treat customers and staff alike.
There will likely never be anything like Wardair again.
Sad, really.
