@HomeoftheGoodGuys I think Paul Terry was merely a consultant who only occassionaly appeared at Terrytoons' New Rochelle, New York studio after the conmpany was sold to CBS in 1955, and had almost nothing to do with the company's productions after that date (other than perhaps being screened finished cartoons).
Reportedly, Terry was a booster of young Ralph Bakshi and around 1965, asked Bill Weiss (who took over day-to-day operations after the sale to CBS) to let Bakshi produce and direct.

From the looks of it, I'd say this was CBS's answer to HB's Johnny Quest over on ABC. Not a bad imitation, but then again I never really was all that fond of Terrytoons..something about the sound effects used to irritate the shit outta me when I was a kid, especially whatever they used to create the sound of splashing water....absolutely hated it! Hey, I know it sounds stupid, but whatta ya expect? I was only 5!

I believe this was to be the "component" for the projected "SALLY SARGENT" series {two of her stories bracketed with one of these}. My guess is, Fred Silverman, who was CBS' chief programmer for their Saturday morning schedule in 1969, decided against buying the series because of concerns at the time about too much violence in "children's cartoons". When he bought "SCOOBY DOO" from Hanna-Barbera for late '69, it featured more comedy than danger {yet, the same designs by Iwao Takamoto are there}.

Another rare Terrytoon from 1969. This and an unsold pilot "Sally Sargent" both are from Terrytoons. This was three years before the studio went out of business and the death of creator and founder Paul Terry.
And it was before the studio was sold to Viacom. This was a late Terrytoon.
