You obviously don't know who Laird is. He's not like any other surfers. He rided waves that nobody had ever ridden before, and he invented many new ways of surfing (paddle board, foilboard, ...). He's a true pioneer.
He's not the man you describe, he avoids self promotion and has never been involved in any kind of competition.

that is an absurd statement. why not to push their ideas and life onto others? would you rather have everybody happily sitting in cubicles? I understand what you're saying, and that is an admirable way to live life, quietly, but you can't be rich without being famous, hamilton just found the ideal life because he gets payed to do what he loves and theres nothing wrong with that.
