You seriously have to jump that high to do it properly?

Muscle magazines never suggest high reps and low weight for steroid users, quite the opposte. I can't post pubmed link here, youtube won't let me, but I have never seen evidence that after 6 reps it switches to endurance, in fact it doesn't. But I have seen evidence that reps don't mean much and what matters to muscle growth is intensity. Of course if it's so light that you can easily do 100 reps is not intense but that doesn't mean if you can do more than 6 reps it is not intense

The upside for the dumbell squat cleans is that is not as technical lift and doesn't require time to master it. The individual stabilization from each dumbbell adds a little work but personally I prefer the single dumbbell squat clean. More torque can be gathered and more weight used.

Umm, where are your studies? In women, muscle breakdown is seen within fifteen reps while men's muscles last to approximately 25. Strength falters and turns to endurance after around 6 repetitions. The garbage these muscle magazines put out is for steroid users as steroids have been shown to vastly decrease muscle tissue breakdown. The squat clean's power is derived from the propulsion of the legs which makes the dumbells "float" allowing the body to get under them.

this has nothing to do with endurance, it's a pseudo-scientific myth that you need very heavy weight to make the exercise resistance otherwise it is endurance, in face there are dozen of studies that proven that you can get the same hypertrophy with very light weight and 20 to 30 reps as long as the last reps are very hard. Intensity is what matters not weight. Hence this exercise will never be a cardio endurance exercise. Also most people don't have access to barbells!

But why? They are so much worse than with a barbell for power. And there's so much better exercises out there for endurance. So I really honestly can't think of a single reason for doing them.. Other than for fun of trying them, off course!
