Nocturne in G Minor op. 37 no. 1, by Frederic Chopin, played by Wesley Hawkins. I was very inspired to play this beautiful piece of music. Technique can only go so far, the rest is style and emotion. I truly hope you enjoy my interpretation of Chopin's Nocturne in G Minor.

  • Wow I love this piece, and you did such a great job interpreting it! How long have you been playing?

  • @pianowhiz1 Thanks, I have been playing for about 12 years now

  • very nice interpretation

it lacks of some crecendos, minuendos, pedaling signatures etc...

but preety good for your age so far

    only one recommendation.

tune that piano please!!. it's killing my ears.

  • @TheChileanpsycho Thanks for the feedback. Looking back now, the piano was pretty badly out of tune! Since then I have gotten a really nice Yamaha upright grand to replace this 1913 beast :)

  • Out of all the versions of this song I am in love with the way Wesley Hawkins plays it. I have probably watched this particular video 1,000 times, just looping on repeat for hours. Currently I am listening to my playlist which only contains this song over and over.

  • @Carolinie433 Wow! I can't believe you've listened to it that much! Thanks so much for the huge compliment and I'm so glad you've enjoyed my playing that much!

  • You sound like a douche bag who is trying to sound like he knows what he's talking about. ;) Well done, Wes. You can NEVER be too passionate. What is music if not passion?

  • You're really good I'm so jealous I wich I knew how to play piano as well but for now I still have Chopin, Mozart Bach and Beethoven :D

  • I like that out of tune sound to this piano. It's badly out of tune, but it really has a feel to the sort of stuff I'm in to, such as blues piano. The out of phase beat sequencing sort of has that ghostly haunt, reminescent of those rag time, blues records of the early 1900s. Keep it up.

Do another video now and lets see your improvements

It's better to ask people that you don't know, they'll be extremely critic and they'll help you notice your mistakes

    ;)

  • So amazing and beautiful

  • Yep, Wesley. This is definitely the best of all the versions. The slow deliberate timing is what makes music especially so powerful. Especially with dear Chopin.

  • Pay attention to the phrasing in the sheet music, cause for the most part, your right hand is the same level volume throughout most of the piece, it just needs a bit of variety and the left hand is a tad bit loud.
