A good speed bench session, benching with chains, pretty light, I don't know maybe 225-ish at the top. I feel like I'm getting faster, especially toward the end of the session. I'm happy with my lifting and feel better going into this meet than any of the previous ones, by far.

  • do you breath heavy when you talk cuz you take HGH? yeahhhhhh

  • @StokedBeastMotoDr Good grief, of course not, I'm breathing heavy because I just finished training ( dip shit ).

  • Very interesting. Is that a common technique with powerlifters?

  • @vjmusl Yes it is a common powerlifting technique. Bands are also used sometimes instead of the chains. I tend to like the chains better because they're easier on the joints.

  • What is the purpose of using chains instead of weights?

  • It changes the power curve, that is it's lighter at the bottom since some of the chains are laying on the ground, and heavier at the top. The idea here is to teach your body to generate enough speed at the beginning to easily get through the heavier part.

  • i wonder if my gym will let me take my chains... i go to a 24 hour fitness active

    XD

    hahahahaha

    we will see tomarrow

  • That is a good idea. I may use bands to change up my lifting routine

  • Brian, you are like Thor dude. Huge as hell! I'm glad you're a nice giant because you would be a scary as hell mean one! Keep it up. I can definitely see all the progress you're making. Soon as I fully recover from heart surgery scheduled next month (at 34 y.o., bummer) I want to start lifting again. It may be a long while, we'll see.
