Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are a common orthopaedic problem, especially in sports that are high-contact or involve sudden changes in direction. This particular patient was from North Carolina and tore his left ACL while riding motocross. He flew down to Houston, Texas and had his operation on a Monday. The surgery was performed by Mark Sanders, MD, FAAOS, founder of the Sanders Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. The patient walked out of the hospital the same day with no crutches or braces and came into the clinic the next day. His dressings were changed, xrays were taken, and he was instructed on what he would be doing while he was in town and when he returned home. This video footage is from Tuesday, 1 day after surgery, and Friday, 4 days after surgery. His ACL reconstruction involved taking a bone-patellar tendon-bone graft from his right knee and inserting it into his left knee. This graft is what is known as the "gold standard" because of its strength and healing time. For more information about ACL reconstruction at the Sanders Clinic, Dr. Sanders, or other injuries, please visit http://www.sandersclinic.net or call 1-888-8DR MARK.

*These results ARE typical.

  • He said he had surgery yesterday morning and was up and walking...Thats a laugh..my son had the surgery and the next day he was in so much pain ,he can barely put his foot down on his third day ..And still with alot of pain...This guy walks around normal with no problems..I wonder how much he is getting paid for this advertisement..

  • @Irma2006

This patient was not paid anything. Its all about surgical technique. I am saddened to hear about your son's difficulty.

  • I am sorry to hear that you have had such a bitter experience with your knee operation.

The videos are true and have been made under my direction.

Simply put, its just impossible to have as many people as have been involved in the development of this channel to be involved in a conspiracy or fraud.

  • Hahaha! This has got. To be the biggest joke of a video on YouTube I have ever seen. Fraud. Lies. I am 5 days post op acl reconstruction with hammy graft and limp around with an immobilization brace and crutch and am happy with my progress. This video is a joke and total BS. If I had the surgery u would know.

  • personally , i think its quite possible . I just did my acl recon 2 days ago and during the 2nd day , i'm able to walk already , just not in normal way (a bit limping) . Yeah , i feel loose in my knee and my physiotherapist said bcos my thigh lost power in holding my knee right . So yeah , i do think that surgery technique affects the after-surgery .

  • I just had my ACL surgery 3 weeks ago. I am now still limping around with one crutch. Please explain, how come this man can walk around normal in just one day after the surgery? What are the differences in the surgical technique? Please...please... I need the explanation. Thanks.

  • put this in any mainstream form of advertising and I will call the competition watchdog on you hahaha...such a joke...

  • Hey browntrousermonemt, how can you call this a fraud. We live in NC, we have been to Dr. Sanders and our daughter is proof. If anyone is looking and wants to talk with a real person who has been there and done this you can send me an email to my personal email at pawatkins94@yahoo.com. My daughter is 14 and plays club soccer for Charlotte Soccer Academy.

  • This is total FRAUD!

  • This is very real. My 14 year old daughter just had her ACL repaired by Dr. Sanders on Wednesday August 3, 2011. Today is August 6, 2011 and she had done everything I have seen in the videos from the Sanders Clinic. She had a complete ACL reconstruction. She is already bending her knees to 145 degrees. Dr. Sanders has called everyday to the Therapist, Allen, to check on her progress. She is only three days out and started doing wall squats today. We came from NC to to see Dr. Sanders. Thanks Doc

  • is this guy human? how is he walking right away. i hope my i can get that much success after that long after surgery. Surgery in 3 weeks :o

  • What a load of crap.

  • How's that possible?! walking and benting like that after a day of surgery. I'm about to have my ACL surgery in a week, hamstring graft. If i'm able to walk like that the very next day, I'll post a video.
