Lecturers and students gather at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg to demonstrate against Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama's visa debacle. (Video provided by Sapa)
why dont they show the the msgs written on the placards that the students were holding? they know its not the same tune as the ones the management had.
@annie46664 - thanks, Annie - let our democratic values rather follow the "Arch" on this special day of his and not those rabble-rousers fixated with dogma elsewhere on this post! Thank you for helping shine light & love in a rather dark space at this time! (Also from Durbs-by-the-sea!)
@Br1anSand ~ Excellent response! I couldn't have said all that any better. :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST ARCHBISHOP DESMOND TUTU & CONGRATULATIONS on this being your 80TH.
I'm still praying for a miracle so that your & THE WORLD'S wonderful friend, The Dalai Lama suddenly appears. After all, Jesus said that we just need faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains!
Love & LIGHT to one and ALL,
~Durban~ (Highly embarrassed by our oft' ridiculous & hypocritical government!)

Its appalling that you ignore the placards of scores of students who were protesting against Wits management, and make it seem all the activity there was against the Dalai Lama's visit.

Thank you, Wits - for marching for our national democratic values.
Halala, Wits, halala.
Viva freedom of speech, viva!
Viva freedom of association, viva!
An absolute visual feast of human rights activism...well done WITS!
Happy birthday, "Arch", for Friday 7th October and my sincere apologies that my government insulted you & your guest, His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.
I weep for your collective struggle heritage and all brave men and women who stood up such that our nation may be free one day.
