K-11 (K-OICW) Too heavy?

미국에서 1999년에 XM-29로 무장한 보병과 M-16A2로 무장한 보병과의 모의전투 시뮬레이션을 벌인 결과 교전비율이 무려 1 : 70. XM-29를 운용하는 1명의 보병이 사망 및 중상을 당할때 M-16A2으로 무장한 보병들 70명을 사망 및 중상으로 무력화시킬 수 있음을 의미하는 것. 다만 이 모의전투에서는 전원 XM-29로 무장한 부대와 전원 M-16A2로 무장한 부대사이의 모의전투였다고 하는점은 유의해야...

K-11's 20mm HEAB can kill in 6-8m diameter, and wound in 16-20m diameter.
Size of several hundred fragments is similar to grenade's.
Fragments can penetrate US kevlar helmet and korea bulletproof vest in 6-8m diameter.

K-11 is weapon of NCW(Network Centric Warfare).
K-11's scope is linked to operator's goggle with digital display.
And commander see the same image.

Soldier can shoot around corners or behind cover without exposing himself to enemy fire.

Korean digital fires network system with K-11 and Korea Next Self-propelled 120mm Mortar is similar to the M95/M96 MFCS.

K-11 is not 40mm grenadiers replacement.
We will use both weapons.

40mm grenadiers----2 per a squad
K-11 operator------1-2 per a squad

Over 4000 K-11 will be produced Until 2014.
One will be assigned to each squad Until 2014.
Maybe two will be assigned to each squad Until 2020.

S&T DAEWOO CO. LTD. announced that it has signed a contract with Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration to supply K-11 hybrid rifles. The contract amount is 70 million dollars (700억원).



UAE buys rifles from South Korea

The UAE has agreed to buy from South Korean companies as much as US$560,000 worth of specialised assault rifles. The order is for 40 K-11 airburst rifles and makes the UAE the first foreign customer for the weapon.

@silverwings21 Drop test. It tests the weapon's ability to handle stresses; more or less a durability test.

@kertaspaper94 We're a much smaller nation. By land-mass, in fact, the ROK measures smaller than most American states. That said, we're also a Global 20 export-driven economy. It's not so much that we're richer, but more that the costs we incur are much less than those of the U.S.
