what are you guys spraying on the veneers before you apply the glue? is that just water?

It was just a super light mist of water to help the glue spread evenly.

Ah, Titebond 3 is the exception, Its specially formulated.

More weight really is insignificant against the force of clamps or a vac bag.

10 at a time sounds...

If they were half an inch thick, you'd have 5" being pressed at a time. a 5" radius curve on the inside would make a 10" radius on the outside, which is pretty.... Unusable.

@chainmaillekid i guess thats tru, but wont adding more weight help get the shape better. and i thought wood glue has 30 min working time, atleast thats what tite bond 3 says. and ive seen ppl make skate boards 10 at a time

For fast production, I would actually suggest a vaccum bag and foam DIMM press, its simple, fast, and light.

You only need to make the female side of the press, You don't have to mess with clamps, and you can make multiple presses fairly easy, and very cheaply.

You could glue a board, stick in in a vac bag w/ the foam mold, evacuate the air. Then stick the drying board, and bag, in an out of the way place to dry, after which you could start a second board.

I've done multiple decks before.

You can't do it for complex shapes like drop decks very well, because the contours on the inside are going to be different on the outside.

It becomes less effective the thicker the boards are.

Also, wood glue has only 7 min of working time, so you'd need to glue up and press ALL of the decks within that time in order to avoid delam, it can be hard to do one deck in that time.

@chainmaillekid yea, well maybe u can just use cement press only, thats what i do. but yeh, the most ideal way to do it would be just one super huge metal press. cuz yea i agree that the c clamps save space, but if u wanted to do multiple boards at the same time, it would take up more room and require lots and lots of clamps. a really good cement or metal mold can fit multiple decks in it. pretty soon imma start doing allota orders so imma try 2 or 3 decks at a time and see what happens

We have a cement press. But its pretty... well, Once you got the clamps on it, you're not going to be able to move it, so you have to press it somewhere thats both out of the way, and roomy enough to work.

C-clams are really nice because then you can just pick up the press and throw it in a corner until it dries, and these presses are simple enough that we were able to make a few of them, so we could press multiple boards at a time.

meh, doesnt seem to efficient, u could just spend some time to make a really good mold like outa wood or cement. or use a mold and air pressure to weigh it down. or do a combination with weight and clamp. i dunno. but it does save space , ill give u that
